History of the Farmer Inn

In 1896 the Inn was built as a stopover for farmers and travelers as they traveled between the many small towns in the area.  In 1910, a year before prohibition, Anheuser Busch built the 16 foot bar and delivered it by horse and wagon.  That bar is the center piece of the building today and has been kept in as much of original design as possible.  After prohibition, a local man, Otto Rodemich, opened the Inn as a restaurant and bar.  You can see a picture of him and his family on the front of our menu.  A dance hall was also opened on the second floor. After WW2, in the 1950’s John and Cora Chapman took over the Inn and Cora made a many of suppers especially Sunday fried chicken. They lived on premise and owned the Inn until the 70’s.  Bob and Margaret open The Inn after that and continued the great Sunday chicken and home baked pies.  Throughout the following years it has taken on many lives and after being left unoccupied it was resurrected in 2005 by realtor/entrepreneur Steve Duebelbeis.  Steve invested in the building and restored it as you see it today.  Our goal is to maintain the long tradition the Farmers Inn has stood for and offer you great service, great food, and a great overall atmosphere.
